ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Common Kings

A cross-cultural pop/rock band heavily inspired by soul and reggae, Common Kings is a true Pacific band. Their members Taumata Grey, JR King, Ivan Kirimaua, and Jerome Taito, have roots in Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji, and Tonga. These Polynesian powerhouse musicians take their sound across boundaries, drawing up comparisons to the best pop, rock, soul, and reggae artists. Common Kings has been making music since 2011, has toured with Justin Timberlake and Fifth Harmony, and has been beloved throughout Oceania since their start.

Collie Buddz

Displaying a passion for music since childhood, the New Orleans born, Bermuda raised Collie Buddz has been mixing reggae and rap for years. Initially a producer early in his career, Collie Buddz had difficulties finding artists who could create the sound he wanted. Eventually, he wound up recording his own vocals and beats. In the mid-2000s his hard work paid off when the hits “Come Around” and “Blind to You” found the ears of fans in Europe and America, launching Collie Buddz to stardom. He’s parlayed his success into tours with Cypress Hill, Matisyahu, and Rebelution, and performed for the masses at Lollapalooza, Boomtown, and Summer Jam.

Fiji

If there could be a Mount Rushmore of Hawaiian music, Fiji would belong on it. He’s been making music for decades now, and has influenced the music scene in the process. Fiji’s one of a kind style shuns categorization. He makes reggae, r&b, island, and whatever he feels like - and his music has found fans every time he picks up a microphone.  From early classics like “Sweet Darling,” to features on the Common King’s hit “Kingdom Come,” to the wildly popular “Morning Ride,” Fiji’s music is versatile yet all his own.

Jay Park

It’s probably easier to talk about what Jay Park hasn’t done in the entertainment industry. Over his young career he’s been a b-boy, music producer, model, actor, and now rapper/r&b singer. Originally from Washington, Jay Park moved to Korea to pursue its lively entertainment industry. Since 2011, he’s released multi-platinum selling records, and has headlined shows across Asia. He also dropped his latest album, "Worldwide."

Kolohe Kai

When Kolohe Kai first shot to fame in 2010, some of their band members hadn’t even graduated high school. Still, this energetic, soulful band, fronted by Roman de Peralta’s smooth, crooning vocals, embodies a quintessential island sound. Their hits like “Ehu Girl,” “He’e Roa,” and “Good Morning Hawaii” call to mind images of beautiful sun kissed beaches, and the warmth of the Pacific.

Mana’o Company

When reggae was finding a home in the hearts of Hawaiian musicians twenty years ago, Mana’o Company was among the first bands to take Jamaican rhythms and fuse them with Hawaiian harmonies and instrumentals. Because of their trailblazing efforts they helped establish Hawaiian Reggae as it articulates itself today, influencing top island reggae bands & popular artists. Their music has won them Hawaii’s top musical awards, and afforded them the chance to perform all over the Pacific. Mana’o Company are true island reggae legends.

Pia Mia

A recording artist, entrepreneur, model and viral celebrity all before she turned 20, Pia Mia’s red hot rise to stardom does not look to be slowing anytime soon. In fact, each time this pop star posts a music video online, it regularly garners millions of views within weeks. Her collaborations have cast her alongside some of the biggest names in the American music industry, including Chris Brown, Tyga, G-Eazy and will.i.am. And her singles have a gigantic, passionate fan base. Originally from right here on Guam, these days when Pia isn’t traveling across the U.S. for shows, she rests her head in the City of Angels. She also was recently tapped as the face and fashion director for Madonna's clothing line, "Material Girl."

The John Dank Show

Composed of members Danton Cruz, Francis McJohn, Paolo Cruz, and John Tyquiengco, The John Dank Show started out as a way for this group of friends to write original music. After dabbling in Guam’s active open mic circuit, the band caught the ear of Tumon’s epicenter of rock music, Livehouse, where the band first started gigging in 2014. Since that time, they’ve dropped a self-titled EP, launched music videos, and become a local sensation. Calling their specific music genre “a big question mark,” The John Dank Show pulls musical influence from just about everywhere. The John Dank Show even made it to #4 on iTunes’ reggae charts.

Micah G

The Soul and R&B influenced reggae that Micah G makes is the kind of music nearly everyone can enjoy. His positive lyrics and smooth vocals have kept him on the Hawaiian music scene since 2009. The man who brought us "Big City Love" and "Take a Chance" is all set to give Guam a G’d up performance. Look for him to make a big impression at Guam Live.
