Japan Airlines announces plans for Narita-Guam route

JAL to add charters for Golden Week and switch to larger aircraft for daily flights
(Tumon, Guam) The JAL Group (JAL) has announced its flight frequency and fleet plans for its Guam route during Fiscal Year 2019.
The air carrier announced that based on demand, JAL will switch flying its 767-300ER aircraft to a larger 777-200ER aircraft and reduce its twice-daily flights to once a day. The updated Narita – Guam route will have 26 business class seats and 286 economy class seats available.
“We thank Japan Airlines for offering 113 additional seats in their larger aircraft to Guam and for their continued commitment to support the Japan market,” said GVB President and CEO Nathan Denight. “We have a good relationship with the JAL Group and we will continue to work with them to welcome more visitors to our island paradise into 2020.”
Guam International Airport Authority (GIAA) Executive Manager Thomas C. Ada stated, “ We are pleased to hear of JAL’s upgauge of equipment from a 767 to the 777 on Tokyo /Guam daily service, and are appreciative of JAL’s continued partnership with the Guam Airport. JAL’s operations at our terminal is unique, operating at very convenient afternoon arrival and departure times, and its continued JAL pilot training cycles utilizing our runways and airspace. We will continue to work with Japan Airlines to support their operations here on Guam.”
Ticketing for the updated flight service started January 31, 2019 with the first flight on the 777-200ER aircraft to begin on September 1st.
In addition, JAL will provide charter flights to Guam for Golden Week using a 767-300ER that will operate between April 28-May 6.
The JAL Group states it will continue to embrace new challenges to deliver greater customer convenience, enhance its networks, and improve the quality of its products and services.
