GVB’s Regina Nedlic excels at tourism institute program in Hawaii

(Tumon, Guam) One of Guam’s daughters recently returned home from a program that helps tourism professionals take their skills to a new level. Regina Nedlic, Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) Marketing Manager Pacific, attended the 38th Executive Development Institute for Tourism (EDIT) at the University of Hawaii (Manoa). The EDIT program was hosted by the UH School of Travel Industry Management and took place from June 5-17, 2016 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

EDIT has provided rising tourism executives and business leaders with the knowledge and managerial skills to work effectively in an environment of change and innovation. The two-week interactive curriculum covered technology, destination marketing, strategic development and planning, hospitality and transportation, data collection and tourism policy. 

Participants came from a broad range of places around the world, including Guam, Thailand, Nepal, China, Solomon Islands and the Caribbean Islands. The EDIT program also included university faculty and guest presenters from the public and private sectors in Hawaii, as well as the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA).

"My participation in the EDIT program has helped me to broaden my scope and knowledge in the travel and tourism industry for Guam and the Micronesia region,” said Nedlic. “It was a great learning experience to engage with other tourism professionals and relate in lengthy discussions with guest presenters and tourism experts regarding specific issues relating our island and the tourism industry.  I am very honored to be an EDIT graduate and give special recognition to PATA, United Airlines, GVB, and the University of Hawaii TIM School for this opportunity."

Nedlic received a scholarship from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), which Guam has been a charter member of for the last 65 years, to attend the prestigious program. PATA has been an active partner in supporting and providing scholarships for the EDIT program under the PATA Foundation.
