Launch partners unveil their Håfa Adai Rates
(Tumon, Guam) – The Guam Visitors Bureau, in partnership with the stations of KUAM today announced the expansion of its Håfa Adai pledge program to include a Håfa Adai Rate, in the form of special discounts or offers exclusive to local residents from participating businesses. The Håfa Adai Rate (HAR) program encourages Guam residents not just to “buy local” but to support local businesses which embrace our island’s culture, language and are working to improve the Guam product. Additionally, the HAR program provides a framework for local residents and tourism stakeholders to enjoy the Guam experience through participating shops, optional tours, restaurants, spas and other establishments at a discounted rate.
“We see the Håfa Adai Rate program as a win for both local businesses who take advantage of this free platform to market their products and services, as well as local residents enjoying the benefits of tourism and now eligible for these great offers,” said GVB General Manager, Karl Pangelinan. “As we continue to diversify and grow the tourism industry, we’re also focused on strengthening our Guam product by engaging local stakeholders through the Håfa Adai Pledge and now the Håfa Adai Rate program.”
Alongside the HAR Launch Partners which include the Stations of KUAM, Skydive Guam, Jungle Rules Adventure Tours, Jiivana Spa, Cycles Plus, Beadhive Guam, Spa Bali, Seleen Divers, Turtle Tours, 76/Circle K/SPGas, Mandara Spa and Outback Steakhouse were HAR supporters Senators Tina Muña Barnes and Brant McCreadie who encouraged the implementation of this program. “In addition to the economic benefit tourism brings to our island, it’s important to engage the local stakeholders and have them take ownership in what makes Guam a great place to live, work and visit,” said Chairperson for the Legislature’s Committee on Tourism, Senator Tina Rose Muña Barnes. Senator McCreadie added, “Much like the Kama’aina discount Hawai’i residents enjoy, I am proud to have worked with GVB to conceptualize the Håfa Adai Rate program, which will not only provide a special discount for our residents but encourage businesses to show their Håfa Adai spirit and promote the Guam brand.”
