GVB & industry partners meet over 300 travel agents & airlines in Korea’s second-tier cities
(Busan, South Korea) The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) and members of the island’s tourism industry completed a successful roadshow in three South Korean cities from October 10-12, 2018. The group met with over 300 travel agents in Busan, Gwangju, and Daegu, as well as airline partners, in an effort to sell Guam to new and existing agents and expand joint-marketing activities.
“Korea is a very important international source market for Guam, and GVB has been working closely with key travel trade partners to encourage potential visitors from Korea to visit our island paradise,” said GVB Korea Marketing Committee Chairman Bart Jackson. “The Korea market has grown tremendously over the last few years. We strongly believe that this trend in growth is a reflection of our continued investment and commitment in this market.”
Team Guam announced it will continue to promote #instaGuam in the Visit Guam 2019 campaign. The theme promotes Guam as an instant vacation destination from major Asian cities while encouraging visitors and locals to share their experiences on social media.
Untapped potential
The Korea Roadshow is a sales mission that GVB has organized in Korea and the purpose is to provide destination training with the most up-to-date information on Guam tourism and offer opportunities for industry members to meet with domestic travel trade partners. This year, the sales mission engaged domestic travel trade in Busan, Gwangju, and Daegu to build strong business relationships and encourage visitor growth to Guam.
“Tourism is Guam’s number one industry and GVB’s annual roadshow is a core component of our strategy to showcase the wide range of products, services, and events that Guam has to offer,” said GVB Korea Marketing Manager Colleen Cabedo. “There is untapped potential in other regions of Korea with millions of people that have never visited Guam. We thank our industry partners for joining us and look forward to Guam’s tourism reaching even greater heights.”
The businesses that joined the Korea Roadshow include Baldyga Group, Core Tech Resort LLC (Bayview Hotel/Oceanview Hotel & Residences), Dusit Thani Guam Resort, Fish Eye Marine Park, Holiday Resort & Spa Guam, Lam Lam Tours & Transportation, Lotte Hotel Guam, Nissan Rent-A-Car Guam, Outrigger Guam Beach Resort, Pacific Star Resort & Spa, Royal Orchid Guam Hotel, Sentry Hospitality (Days Inn, Wyndham Garden Guam and Grand Plaza Hotel) and the Westin Resort Guam.

Members of Guma Taotao Tano’ also joined the roadshow to display the Chamorro culture with captivating performances, while Miss International Guam 2018 Diliana Tuncap exuded the Håfa Adai spirit by greeting and taking photos with hundreds of travel trade representatives in attendance.
The remaining members of Team Guam also attended the 99th Korea Sports Festival amongst 15 other countries from October 12-15 in Iksan, Jeonbuk. The group was there to support Guam’s Korean Nationals competing in multiple sporting events such as tennis, bowling, and golf.
