June 3, 2016

(Tumon, Guam) P.H.R. Ken Micronesia Inc. and the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) have donated a total of $11,000 toward relief efforts in Japan in the wake of the devastation and personal loss caused by the Kumamoto Earthquake, which occurred back in April. A check was presented today to the Japan Club of Guam at the GVB office in Tumon.

“The people of Japan have a longstanding relationship with the people of Guam. It’s only right that we help out our neighbors, especially since they have contributed to Guam’s thriving tourism industry for over 50 years,” said GVB President and CEO Nathan Denight.  “On behalf of our board of directors, management and staff, we express our sincere and heartfelt condolences to those in the Kumamoto Prefecture who have suffered during the devastating earthquake and hope our donation will assist the people of Japan in their recovery efforts.”

“PHR Ken Corp is dedicated to the people of Japan and the people of Guam,” said P.H.R. Ken Micronesia Inc. Managing Director Milton Morinaga. “This small gesture is a demonstration of our commitment to assisting Kumamoto prefecture in recovering from this devastating tragedy. I encourage all members of GVB to join GVB and Ken Corp in helping our friends from Japan.”

P.H.R. Ken Micronesia and its affiliates have donated $6,000. The affiliates include Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort and Spa, Hilton Guam Resort and Spa, Pacific Islands Club Guam, Hyatt Regency Guam and Hotel Nikko Guam. A donation of $5,000 was also taken from GVB’s Rainy Day Fund for the Kumamoto Earthquake relief efforts. The GVB Board of Directors quickly approved the release of this funding through a board resolution.
