Denight named new GVB General Manager

Governor congratulates Denight on appointment
The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) Board of Directors officially named Jon Nathan Denight as the new GVB General Manager. During their board meeting today, a motion was made to name Denight as the replacement for current GVB General Manager Karl Pangelinan, who will be returning to the private sector at the end of this month. The motion passed unanimously with all board members present.
Gov. Eddie Baza Calvo said he’s looking forward to working with Denight.
“Since joining the Guam Visitors Bureau in 2011, Nathan has been instrumental in GVB’s success in diversifying the tourism market. We have some big challenges ahead, but I have every confidence that Nathan will steer the agency in the right direction,” Calvo stated.
GVB Chairman Mark Baldyga also praised Denight and thanked outgoing GVB General Manager Pangelinan.
“The board was very pleased to unanimously appoint Nathan Denight as the new General Manager of the Guam Visitors Bureau. He has done an outstanding job as Deputy General Manager, has strong experience and is well respected by the entire industry. With his years of experience and commitment in serving the Bureau, he has proven to be a great leader and I am highly confident that he will successfully lead our team towards the goals of the Tourism 2020 plan,” Baldyga said.
“I would also like to thank Karl for his last two years as General Manager. We wish him the best of luck with his new endeavors.”
Outgoing General Manager Karl Pangelinan also congratulated Denight.
“Nathan is like a brother to me and I am absolutely thrilled that the GVB Board chose him to be my successor,” he said. “It’s been a pleasure working in this organization and with all of our industry partners and sponsors. I thank Governor Calvo, Lt. Governor Tenorio, the Guam Legislature and the board for giving me a chance to serve our island community. I most especially would like to thank the hard-working, professional staff at GVB for making my time so rewarding.”
A Guam native, Denight has more than 10 years of private-sector marketing experience managing large-scale marketing campaigns, video productions and event planning. He assumed the position as Deputy General Manager for Guam Visitors Bureau in July 2011 .The St. John’s graduate earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Santa Clara University in California in June 1999.
"I am humbled and honored by this opportunity to continue serving the Bureau and the people of Guam,” Denight said. “We still have much work to accomplish in growing and diversifying Guam’s tourism industry. I remain committed to working with Governor Calvo, Lt. Governor Tenorio, the Guam Legislature, the GVB board and staff in moving Guam into the next era of greatness.”
